TEHRAN – Iran U-17 won the Tehran eight team international U-17 tournament in Qods town in western Tehran Wednesday.
Iran defeated Iraq 5-4 in the final that was played in front of 6000 supporters.
The two sides tied 4-4 in regular time. However, ten minutes into the extra time an own goal by an Iraqi defender gave Iran the lead, which they successfully defended to win the title.
Earlier in the day, China beat Japan 2-1 in the third-place match.
The competing teams in the tournament were Japan, China, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Armenia, and two teams from Iran one of which was Foolad FC’s U-17 side.
