Iran’s Golmohammadi to miss last match

Iranian defender Yahya Golmohammadi, who was injured during the match against Portugal, walks with his arm in a sling as he leaves the team hotel in Schnetzenhausen,19 June 2006, to fly to Leipzig for Iran's last group match against Angola. Iran round off their campaign against African debutants Angola, who still have an outside chance of making the second round provided they beat the Iranians and already qualified Portugal beat Mexico convincingly as the Angolans have an inferior goal difference. RAVENSBURG, Germany (Reuters) – Iran defender Yahya Golmohammadi will miss his team's last World Cup match against Angola and will be out for the next three to four weeks, the side's team doctor Sasa Jankovic said on Monday.

"He will not play because of a problem with the shoulder," Jankovic told Reuters. "He injured the ligaments in the last match."

Golmohammadi, who has scored Iran's only goal in the finals so far, was booked for body-checking Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo in their 2-0 defeat and had to go off injured clutching his shoulder after the foul.

Iran stand no chance of qualifying for the second round after their two defeats against Mexico and Portugal but want to take one victory home from Germany.

They play their last Group D match against Angola in Leipzig on Wednesday.

Veteran striker Ali Daei was fit to play, Jankovic said. He was sidelined against Portugal after a back injury and came under fire for his performance in the 3-1 defeat to Mexico.

"He could play but I cannot say whether he will," Jankovic said. "We will see tomorrow."
