The 18-year-old midfielder, who plays in his club football in Brazil for Cruzeiro, broke the deadlock 11 minutes into the second-half for an Ecuador side missing a number of LDU Quito players who are currently on duty for the Copa Libertadores champions at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan.

Iran, meanwhile, were without their Europe-based players as head coach Ali Daei assess his options ahead of the January 14 AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualifier against Singapore in Tehran.
