Here we go again! Only a few days after it was announced, Ali Kaffashian told reporters that the friendly with Thailand is called off due to Thai League’s objections.
Apparently the match was scheduled to be played during the final stretches of the Thai league and the league officials felt that it would conflict with the league schedule.
On Wednesday Kaffashian told reporters, “If the match is indeed cancelled, we will do our best to schedule another one. We are now talking with seven or eight countries most of which, including Iraq and Syria, have not completed their leagues yet.â€
Kaffashian then blurted something about a meeting with Team Melli Head Coach Afshin Ghotbi and his rejection of the options on the table.
“We’ll have to see what we can do!†concluded Kaffashian.
IRIFF’s inability to schedule friendly matches is not a new story for Team Melli fans. If the past is any indication, it is very likely that Team Melli will not play any credible friendly matches before the Korea DPR match.
