Iran international Mehdi Mahdavikia limped off the field with what seemed to be a right knee injury in the second half of Hamburg’s Bundesliga match against Schalke.
The incident came when HSV defender was tackled by German international Kevin Kuranyi as he was driving towards the Schalke goal. He came back shortly after being carried off, but was clearly in pain and walking with a limp. Unable to continue, he signaled to the bench and was eventually substituted by Alexander Laas.
Hamburg won the match 2:0.
